  OCT 28 GULF SOUTH DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cory Roberts, Valdosta State, Interceptions: 2,...Notes: Roberts had two huge interceptions in the 20-15 win at North Greenville on Saturday. Both interceptions came in VSU territory, with the first coming in the third quarter, after VSU scored and trailed 9-7. The second one sealed the win, stopping the driving Crusaders and ensuring that the nation's top team stayed undefeated. He finished the game with two tackles, while recording one pass breakup. Roberts is the third different Blazer to win this award this season.   SEPT 23/WEEK 3 GULF SOUTH DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Aaron Dawson, Valdosta State,...Tackles: 5, TFL: 0.5, Interceptions: 1, Touchdowns: 1,...Dawson recorded five tackles and had a critical pick six in VSU's 18th straight win. The Blazers defeated the Tigers in large part due to Dawson's timely score. His 80-yard interception return for a touchdown came in the fourth quarter when UWA had marched down to the VSU 27-yard line, looking to cut it to a one score game.   2019 PRESEASON GULF SOUTH CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM: RB Jamar Thompkins, Valdosta State, So.,...Thompkins (Miami, Fla.) led the Blazers in rushing last season for 1,329 yards on 137 attempts, while scoring nine touchdowns on the ground. He earned honorable mention all-America accolades.

  2019 PRESEASON GULF SOUTH CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM: DL Joseph Mozone, Valdosta State, Sr.,...Mozone (North Augusta, S.C.) started all 14 games on the defensive line for the Blazers and earned second team all-conference honors last season, as well as second team all-region accolades. He tallied 25 total tackles with 12 solo, seven tackles for loss for 34 yards and three sacks. Mozone had three hurries and one forced fumble on the year.

He helped lead a defense to an undefeated season, along with ranking 18thnationally in tackles for loss (8.4) per game and 12thin sacks at 3.29 per contest.   2019 PRESEASON GULF SOUTH CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM: WR Lio'undre Gallimore, Valdosta State, Jr.,...The defending Gulf South Conference and NCAA Division II National Champion Valdosta State football team was tabbed first in the 2019 GSC Preseason Poll. VSU, who had its first perfect season in program history at 14-0 in 2018 with its fourth national championship since 2004, garnered 64 total points and eight of nine first place votes in the poll as voted on by the league's coaches.

Gallimore (Miami Gardens, Fla.) led the team in receiving yards with 900 on 36 catches and nine scores. He earned first team all-conference honors and was a second team all-region selection in 2018. Gray was a school and conference-best 93 of 96 in extra-points and 17 of 23 in field goals as Gray broke the school and conference record for scoring in a season with 144 points.
